Canyons of the Ancients National Monument
Trail Information Specialists (TIS)
CANM

In this program, modeled after the WIS (Wilderness
Information Specialists) program, volunteers will be trained in interacting with the public that uses Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. Specifically, volunteers will be stationed at the Sand Canyon Trail area during high-use times of the week and year. This is a well-used area of the Monument that will benefit greatly by informing the public about Leave No Trace ethics, as well as the laws of the Monument. Volunteers will also be educated in the biological and cultural resources that make the Monument unique and how to avoid disturbing them. Those interested in attending a training must RSVP.
