Ruth Lambert, Ph.D. has been SJMA’s Cultural Program Director for 3 years. During that time she has expanded the cultural site stewardship program and developed new partnerships and cultural programs for volunteers. In 2004,
the site stewardship program  received the  Regional Forester's Award for
Cooperative Support/Community Connections. The program has also received
State and Foundation support for on-going activities.

Prior to working at SJMA, Ruth worked for the federal government as a cultural program manager at the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center inFlagstaff, AZ where she worked with seven Native American Tribes, archaeologists, and anthropologists to implement a cultural program.  She has also worked with a broad range of community groups to institute historic preservation projects, cultural landscapes, wetlands preservation, and the preservation of ethnicity in neighborhoods. 

Ruth holds a Masters degree in Anthropology and a Masters in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado and the University ofNew Mexico, respectively.  She completed her Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University ofNew Mexico in May 2006.
